All Characters - Vampire Survivors Guide - IGN (2024)

After continued updates, Vampire Survivors now features over 20 playable characters for you to choose from. Each of these characters comes equipped with unique attributes and starting weapons that can diversify your gameplay experience and directly impact your chances of completing stages.

This Vampire Survivors guide will detail the unique abilities and starter Weapons of all the characters in the game as of patch 0.7.2, and explain how each of these characters can be unlocked.

New Characters Added in Patch 0.7.2

In patch 0.7.2, Vampire Survivors introduced three new Characters, one Normal Character named Zi 'Assunta Belpaese, and two Secret Characters in the form of Smith IV and Minnah Mannarah.

Zi 'Assunta Belpaese

Zi 'Assunta's can be unlocked by finding their coffin in Vampire Survivors' newest stage, Cappella Magna. Zi 'Assunta's starting weapon is Vento Sacro which operates similarly to its sister weapon the Whip, but it attacks in the direction you're facing instead of striking in a fixed upward trajectory. Vento Sacro can be upgraded into the mouthful of an Evolved Weapon, Fuwalafuwaloo, by pairing it with the Whip evolution Bloody Tear.

Smith IV

Smith IV's starting weapon is the Vandalier and they're the third ghost added to Vampire Survivors but before you can unlock this new Secret Character, you must first unlock their ghoulish pals, Exdash and Toastie. Once you've unlocked both Exdash and Toastie, return to the start menu and complete the steps as follows:

1. From the Start menu, type the word "spam" and then click Start to progress to the Character Selection screen.
2. Type the word "spam" into the Character Selection screen and confirm the selection of any Character.
3. Type "spam" into the Stage Selection screen and start a run on any Stage.
4. Select any Arcana and once the clock has started ticking, type "humbug".

If performed correctly, Smith IV will be available for purchase when you return to the Character Selection screen.

Minnah Mannarah

Minnah Mannarah's starting weapon is the evolution Bloody Tear and they can only be unlocked after you've completed the Lunar Eclipse event and collected the Yellow Sign Relic. To unlock Minnah complete the following steps:

1. Start a run on the Dairy Plant stage with Arcanas active.
2. Once on Dairy Plant, select VIII - Mad Groove as your starting Arcana card.
3. Collect the cheese wheel that spawns a few tiles southwest of your starting point.
4. Defeat the seven rat-like enemies that spawn after you collect the cheese wheel.

After defeating the seven boss-level enemies you'll hear a chime to indicate that you've completed all of the necessary steps and you'll be able to purchase Minnah the next time you enter the Character Selection screen.

Normal Characters

Normal Characters become available for purchase by completing their corresponding achievement. However, you'll still need to shell out some cash before they're fully unlocked and playable. While coins spent on PowerUps can be refunded at any time, coins spent on characters cannot so use the chart below to determine which characters would best match your playstyle and your objectives before spending those hard-earned coins.

Below you'll find a complete list of the Normal Characters in Vampire Survivors and the newest Normal Character Zi 'Assunta Belpaese, will be highlighted in yellow to make them easier to locate:

Secret Characters

Unlike most of the standard cast, "Secret Characters" have hidden unlock triggers that cannot be found in the Unlocks tab. Below you'll find an up-to-date list outlining all of the Secret Characters in Vampire Survivors, including Smith IV and Minnah Mannarah who were added in patch 0.7.2. These two new characters will be highlighted in yellow to make them easier to locate in the chart.
